IBA Proton Therapy is seeking an engaging Sr. Benefits and Compliance Specialist to join our new HR US Headquarters team located in Herndon, VA.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of accuracy working in a fast-paced environment; someone with a real passion for Benefits and a familiarity with healthcare benefits strategy.  We are looking for someone willing to roll up their sleeves and do what is necessary to contribute to the success of our first-class HR Operations team, committed to delivering high quality services for our employees across North America.  

  • Ensure all benefit and wellness offerings align with our engagement and benefits philosophy; partner with benefits brokers to market benefits annually and provide insight and cost analysis
  • Lead, plan, and run effective communications and education of benefits to our employee population
  • Lead primary vendor selection and ensure appropriate program and vendor performance
  • Act as the benefits subject matter expert (SME) for our US employee population; and ensure benefits policies and practices remain legislatively compliant at all times
  • Administer and coordinate daily operations of employee benefit, workers compensation, 401K and leave programs
  • Conduct audits for ACA, 401k, and Workers Compensation Programs
  • Ensure compliance with annual EEO-1 reporting, required employee training and other compliance requirements
  • Identify areas for process improvement, develop standard operating procedures for Benefits and Compliance areas and contribute other department initiatives
  • ADP Workforce Now Benefits Administration
  • Maintain system configurations
  • Serve as back-up for administration of bi-weekly payroll processing





Key skills required for the role include:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 8 + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of benefits program design, implementation, and compliance experience
  • Solid knowledge of relevant Federal and State benefit laws (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.) and current understanding of legal and regulatory landscape in all applicable state locations, regarding changes, trends, and other developments affecting healthcare, retirement, and time away benefits
  • Experience implementing and running a self-funded insurance plan
  • Prior experience with payroll processing; knowledge of payroll tax requirements highly desired
  • Strong analytical/Excel, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to organize and prioritize, navigate through ambiguous or complex issues, and influence desired outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including face-to-face, phone, and written communications, problem-solving, and decision making
  • Demonstrated team player willing to contribute to other HR functional areas and support others
  • Sense of urgency, attention to detail, accuracy, respect for data integrity
  • CEBS certification preferred
