Mission

IBA develops solutions based on particle accelerator for medical and industrial purposes, in which digital and analogue electronics play a key role. Today, IBA is seeking a manager for its electronics team. Located in the Research and Development department, this team is in charge of developing, specifying and maintaining a wide range of future, in-product and install base electronic devices.
 
As electronics team manager, you interact with several stakeholders to capture the requirements and functionalities of electronic devices embedded in the IBA systems and then manage the team in order to meet the demand of the various IBA business lines. Besides, the presence of in-house experts knowledgeable in every technology embedded in the IBA products is one of IBA’s asset and differentiator. 

Your role therefore includes, among others:

• organizing activities, allocating and planning resources effectively with a “can do” attitude
• being responsible for the overall quality and content of deliverables issued by your team (appropriate technical choices, documentation content and quality among others)
• ensuring and following subcontracting of developments with electronics suppliers whilst ensuring that IBA still masters critical components of its systems (hardware and embedded software)
• keeping the team alert and up to date with evolving technologies
• identifying and providing development opportunities for your collaborators, growing their technical skills and product knowledge
• ensuring the team’s specific tools and processes are maintained and efficient

 
Today, challenges of the electronics team are diverse: grow on mixed analogue-digital circuitry, scale-up production of solid-stated radiofrequency power amplifiers, handle upcoming obsolescence on existing electronic subsystems, among others. Besides, the exact perimeter of what is developed in-house or subcontracted needs be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The first challenges of the newly appointed manager will be to create a cartography of the needs and plan the adjustment of internal expertise or challenge existing processes accordingly.
 
We are therefore looking either for a seasoned manager with a wide electronics background and experience or a talented electronics engineer with the right soft skills and ability to frame the scope of the team. In any case, good communication skills, ability to collaborate with many other teams, curiosity and interest for the IBA product line is key.

You have:
 

• Master degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent;
• Knowledge and experience in state of the art technology (analogue and digital board design, FPGA, micro-controllers, etc.);
• Experience in electronics development process and subcontracting.
• Ability to structure and ramp up a team

 
You are:

• A good communicator and able to adjust your message to your audience, you are able to drive people through change;
• Able to organize your work and the work of others autonomously and take initiatives;
• Curious and you maintain your expertise at a good level in order to remain technically relevant and legitimate as a manager of skilled experts;
• Rigorous and meticulous in your daily work and its documentation;
• Fluent in English and proficient in French;
• Willing to travel worldwide (a couple of weeks a year).
